Your Initial Visit

CHILDREN
Children should generally start seeing the dentist at about three years of age unless there is cause for concern prior to that time. Up until age 3, we recommend that you bring your child along with you when you see the hygienist in order to recognize that the experience is pleasant and non-threatening. It may even heighten their enthusiasm to "have their turn" in the chair and to have their teeth cleaned. Generally, children up to the age of 18 are introduced into the office first with the hygienist, and examined by the Doctor at that time. X-rays would be taken as required.

ADULTS
Adults 18 years of age and upward are only introduced into the practice by first seeing the Doctor. It is at this point that you have likely had an extensive history, both Medical and Dental which must be reviewed, a comprehensive examination must be completed, diagnostic X-rays and photographs are taken, and a treatment plan consultation is completed. This appointment is generally one and a half hours in length. The typical response to this examination is "Wow! I have never been examined like that before." It is the time to voice all of your concerns, wants and desires. It is your time to be heard. After this, the Doctor uses the results of the findings to formulate a treatment plan for you.

EMERGENCIES
We generally attempt to see true emergencies on the same day, if possible. We never prescribe medications over the telephone if we have not met and examined you. We generally will refer to qualified specialists for emergencies beyond our capabilities.

SECOND OPINIONS AND CONSULTATIONS
We do offer time in our schedule for second opinions and consultations for any concern which you may have. If treatment related to the consultation or second opinion is completed in our office, we will typically apply part of the fee for the consultation toward the treatment.

* IT IS REQUIRED THAT YOU COMPLETE ALL NECESSARY PAPERWORK IN ADVANCE OF YOUR INITIAL APPOINTMENT SO THAT WE MAY DEVOTE THE ENTIRE FIRST APPOINTMENT TO YOUR EXAMINATION.
